Announcing the Slow Food Nation Civic Center Victory Garden!

Slow Food Nation and Victory Gardens 2008+ are creating an ornamental edible garden at the San Francisco Civic Center from July through
September 2008.

Tuesday July 1:
-Delivery and Installation of construction fencing
-Turf Removal
-Installation of landscape fabric

Wednesday July 2:
-Layout Beds
-Delivery and Installation of Wattle

Thursday July 3:
-Layout Beds
-Installation of Main Irrigation System

Friday July 4:
-Prep the fencing material

Monday July 7:
-Delivery and installation of Soil

Tuesday July 8:
-Delivery and Installation of DG
-Installation of Drip Line

Wednesday July 9:
-Set up the fencing

Friday July 11:
-Removal of construction fencing
-Site Clean Up
-Spray BD 500
-PLANT ARRIVAL
Volunteers bring plants from West Oakland on trucks and arrange in the garden 
-Crew Leader Orientation at CMG Landscape Architecture 

Saturday July 12:
COMMUNITY PLANTING DAY!

7:00 – 9:00: Staff Arrival/Setup
(Plants arrive at the site by box truck from propagation centers in West Oakland).
SFN & DPEM staff to set up
- Volunteer sign in table(s)
- SFN merchandise
- Water table
- Food Table 

8:00: Crew Leaders Arrive for orientation
Coffee and Pastries 

8:00 – 9:00: SETUP
Plants arranged on tables according to their final location in the garden. Crew leaders to staff table. 

9:00: VOLUNTEER ARRIVAL
Volunteers arrive and are paired with a crew leader 

9:30: Orientation
Brief orientation for volunteers/ plan for the day 

10:00 -12:00: PLANTING BEGINS
Volunteers hard at work transplanting, watering in, supervised by crew leader and docents. 

12:00: LUNCH/SPEAKERS
Break for lunch.

1:30-4:00: MORE PLANTING
Reorganize into groups, (afternoon volunteer shift begins); continue planting until the work is all done! 

4:00: PACKUP
End of volunteer activities. SFN and Victory Garden staff to pack up; remaining plants returned to truck
